Movable vs. Immovable Obstructions – isn’t this game confusing enough!

It’s actually not as confusing as you’d think. In fact, it’s much easier, the trick is the name. Movable obstruction – move the obstruction. Immovable obstruction – move the ball. Now then, in order to get relief, the obstruction MUST be interfering with either your stance, the ball itself, or your swing. (NOTE: You do NOT get relief for the area where you plan on hitting the ball…sorry.) For an IMMOVABLE obstruction (cart path, sprinkler head, anything not naturally occurring in nature), find the NEAREST point of relief (again, stance, ball, swing) and drop the ball within 1 club-length of that spot (no closer to the hole). There is no penalty for taking relief from an obstruction.
